The Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata)
The nervous system of a bird is similar to other Chordates. Blue jays have sensory organs such as sight and hearing, but have a poor sense of smell. The blue jay, and all other birds have 38 pairs of spinal nerves, that are widely dispersed throughout the body from the spinal cord. Birds, fascinatingly, have incredible memories. The cerebrum of the brain is the front part of the brain. It contains the cerebral cortex. In birds, more so than most animals, there seems to be a lot more cerebral tissue. Birds have two to three times the eyesight of humans.
