Cnidaria
Cnidaria is a phylum that includes over 10,000 different species that reside predominantly in marine and aquatic environments. They were the first animals to develop nerves which marked the beginning of a new age for organisms. The distinguishing feature of cnidarians are cnidocytes. Cnidocytes are specialized cells that are used mainly for capturing prey. Cnidarian’s bodies are made of mesoglea, a jelly like substance, and epithelium, then walls about one cell thick that hold the mesoglea. Cnidarians come in various forms like coral and jellyfish and very in their methods of reproduction.
